This was crawling next to my foot. It doesn't look big in the pic but go take a dime to an average house spider and get back to me.

Yeah, I can do without those. Spiders in the house generally don't bother me. We often let the little ones live in whatever corner they find until it's clean up time and then their webs have to go.
Large spiders I usually catch and release outside. This one was not so lucky since I didn't have a container for it to safely transport.
Still not something I wanna see while brushing my teeth.

They all have a purpose. I always kill roaches spiders usually get a pass. Large spiders are often a catch and release. Not tonight though.

Since I live where I live I don't let spiders bother me, we don't have venomous spiders here in Norway (well, not venomous enough to harm people that is). But I DO take them outside when I find them..

This was in my office the other day. Mexican red rumped tarantula. Still kinda juvenile, so it'll get bigger.

We have the brown recluse but it's super rare in my area and the black widow which I kill whenever they get inside. A healthy adult like myself won't suffer too badly but anyone with a weak immune system, the elderly, and young children/babies run a slight risk of dying.

I can do without those.
My dad sent me a picture of a tarantula he saw in a grassy area where he works. He was showing some other people because he had never seen one in the wild and one guy said "are you crazy? Those things will jump at you if you get too close". My dad got within a couple feet. He said next time he'll just shoot it.

I'm glad I don't have them up here. I've always been more afraid of the Brown Recluse than the Black Widow.. But I don't know why.

I don't kill anything outside on purpose (because that's their living space), but if it's in my house, I don't give a shit. It's dead. Haha

They're more dangerous. You're more likely to run into a black widow. They're called the recluse because they hide and will often run away if confronted. The widow just hangs out in one spot. Gotta be careful when moving things that haven't moved in a long time, especially in basements.

That's my general rule but more recently I've tried letting more live. My girlfriend is turning me soft.

No!! Don't! This particular breed of tarantula is actually known for their docility. They're kept as pets by some people. My boss caught him in a glass beer stein. We let him loose in a woody pile behind the building and he chilled for a minute letting me take pictures (with my camera only about two inches away) before he slowly started walking away. Also, tarantulas are great pest control! This particular kind will eat cockroaches, small lizards, and even small rodents. And he'll burrow, so no sticky webs.
Tell your dad not to shoot a tarantula. They very rarely bite people. And few are aggressive without some serious provocation first. And if they do get agitated they're more likely to let go of one of their skin-irritating body hairs than they are to bite you.
And I say all of this as a person who doesn't like spiders, usually. Your spider kinda freaks me out, actually, lol. But I'll live and let live if I see one because I know they feast on pest insects. Except if I see a brown recluse. I kill those fuckers on sight.

you can pick those up and they won't do nothing to you :] They'll just hang out or walk around your hand. They are cool. Bigger non venomous spiders are rad. Small non poisonous or duh poisonous spiders on the other hand...all the nopes!

The next time you see a brown recluse, cage it and feed it. I bet after a while you'll come to like it.

Heh. I'm with you. I get more freaked out by the little spiders, especially the ones that don't have any fuzz. Tarantulas I can handle. Wolf spiders kinda make me shiver a bit, but I leave 'em alone. The ginormous orb spiders, or whatever they are, that hang out on nopales? They're freaky as fuck. But at least they just hang there in the middle of their webs not doing anything, so they get a pass, too. Black widows and brown recluses are kill-on-sight.

Nope. Their venom causes necrosis. I'm not all about that flesh-destroying capability they have, lol.

yeah any little shiny spiders with a big booty....nope! The ones on the nopales also nope! But more than anything as you know already, recluse and widows. I don't care if i make a burn mark on the floor or wall, I WILL smash and burn it just to make sure it's dead. All while exclaiming a half fear, half war cry yell during all of this lol

Sounds about right. I, too, do the fear yell/war cry when I see one of those buggers. But mine's probably an octave higher, lol.

Well not to handle it, obviously. You can keep it in a jar or cage, occasionally throw in a insect, a few leaves/sticks ect...
If it can't get touch you, it can't bite you.

Hahaha. The ever-versatile chancla! Home security device, pest control device, discipline device, and footwear for all occasions! Que rancho! Lol.
And it's not so late. I'm wandering around Walmart procrastinating on getting what I came here to get. Oppo takes precedence. ^_^

I've never understood why "compassionate" is equated with "soft." Doesn't make sense to me.
That would be like me, as a manger, hiring a person into a job they couldn't do and then totally blaming *them* for the fail if they couldn't perform, when really...it was my fail, not theirs. "Ahhh.... fucking employee[spider] mess, kill it, kill it with fire!"

Black widows aren't even that deadly. I kept one as a pet as you know, and never had a problem with it. He was just a super cool, low maintenance pet.
